DRUPA 2004 has come and gone. More than 390,000 print and graphic arts professionals made their way to Dusseldorf, Germany for what most people have dubbed “The Olympics of the Printing Industry.” Read the report by our columnist Clint Bolte, on page 26.

Don't forget to mark June 24 on your calendar for the 17th Annual OAQP Golf Tournament being held at the Rolling Hills Golf Club in Gormley, Ontario. The tournament is a great time to mingle with customers and peers in the industry, while enjoying the beautiful weather. For more details, see Victoria's Gaitskell's article on page 50 or call her at 905-682-3030 or e-mail oaqp@econoprint.net

Once again Canadians are heading to the polls on June 28th. While we all have an opportunity to exercise our right to vote, only 61% voted in the last federal election. Some feel their vote will not matter however, you may recall that the last US presidential election was decided by a few thousand votes. If those who did not vote that day had exercised their right, they could have changed the course of history. The simple fact is that people should get engaged and remember what Thomas Jefferson said, “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”

For the first time in over a decade, Canadians have some real choices. So don't neglect your privilege of voting on June 28th and dispense with those feeble excuses such as, “I'd like to vote but I can't take the 20 minutes from work to do it”. Residents of some countries would chastise us for such a disregard of our priorities.

And as the Irish blessing says:

May your right hand

always

be stretched out

in friendship

and never in want.

And as always, stay positive.
