3M-Glass-lgScotchcal Clear View 8150 Graphic Film is the first optically clear cast PVC film, allowing a new approach to glass design. Created by 3M, the highly transparent film lets light into a room with "perfectly reproduced designs," using digital or screen printing for architectural, design or advertising purposes.

A press release explains:
Gone are the days where individual hairs, leaves or tree branches need to be painfully cut out and here are the days of Clear View. Previously, intricate designs required painstaking cut-outs costing businesses time and money [...] 3M Schotchcal Clear View 8150 Graphic Film focuses on cutting costs and increasing efficiencies while ensuring the highest quality of glass design.

Clear View reproduces any image using digital or screen printing, while unprinted areas allow a perfectly clear view through the glass allowing a unique combination of print and transparent surfaces.

3M says that the film is ideal for any type of glass surfaces. It could be used on the interior of buildings, shop windows and stairwells. Individual designs can be created on glass doors, dividing walls and showcases for both decorative and functional purposes.

One-way vision can be achieved with the help of a printed hole matrix, thus omitting the need for using perforated film. 3M's bonding system enables application on contoured or curved surfaces as well. The glass designs produced with this product can last up to seven years, and can be easily removed when no longer required.
