BurkeGroupKomoriInstall-lgBurke Group has recently installed a Komori Lithrone GL640 press into its Edmonton facility, purchased through K-North. The 6-colour, 40-inch press was introduced to North America at Chicago's Graph Expo show in September 2011.

It is the newest press in the Komori lineup, featuring printing speeds of up to 16,500 sheets per hour. According to Komori, this G-series Lithrone press is environmentally responsible -- saving energy and resources, reducing harmful chemical substances such as VOCs released during printing, and reducing noise.

The GL640 can handle sheet thicknesses of 0.04-0.8mm. The press's benderless fully automatic plate changing and flat plate clamp are said to improve working efficiency and reduce preparation time. Komori says that the fusion of the KHS-AI integrated control system and the H-UV drying system shortens makeready time, cuts paper waste, and reduces printing time while maintaining high print quality and high productivity.
