First, let me congratulate Jay Mandarino, head of Toronto’s C.J. Graphics and C.J. Group of Companies. North America’s most awarded commercial printer has done it again! Its most recent accolades include two Benny’s, 11 Awards of Recognition and 34 Certificates of Merit at the Printing Industries of America’s Premier Print Awards. Hard to top that – but not so fast! The C.J. Group of Companies has just expanded with the purchase of a new building! The 60,000 sq. ft. facility features 29-ft.-high ceilings and a second floor with 10,000 sq. ft. It will house C.J.’s large format and fulfillment/distribution services, and the group’s Digital, Interactive, and Designedge Divisions. Renovations are already underway and should be completed by January. I’m sure Jay will mention this move with pride as one of  the ten speakers at our Print Community Forum & Tradeshow, November 13 and 14. He’ll be joined by Dr. Joe Webb, Dr. Mark Bohan, our Associate Editor Natalia Lumby and six other renowned speakers.

Well, the final attendance figures are in from a very successful Graph Expo that we attended. Despite over 4,000 flight cancellations and over 12,000 delays at Chicago’s two major airports during the show because of a fire, verified on-site attendance was 19,229 – off only 8% from the last year’s Print 13. Most exhibitors told me that crowds were strong and the quality and number of leads generated was excellent. So congratulations to show organizer GASC for putting on another amazing event.

Speaking of tradeshows, our Print Community Forum & Tradeshow November 13 & 14 in Vaughan, Ontario is almost sold out. To say that I am overwhelmed by the support from exhibitors and the printing community here in Ontario would be an understatement. Rest assured, we’ll continue to do everything in our power to convince printers and other graphic arts professionals to attend this premier regional event. And while there are larger tradeshows with excellent speakers, I doubt you’ll find a more helpful and renowned, knowledgeable and respected line-up of speakers anywhere.
Our goal here is to put on an event that’s more affordable, more accessible, more casual – and above all more helpful – when it comes to generating new ideas that positively impact your business. You won’t get lost among hundreds of booths and you’ll have easier access to exhibitors, speakers and colleagues in a more welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Get the details starting on page 17.
