Fall traditionally means tradeshows in our industry, and the next few months are no exception. Graph Expo 2015 runs September 13 to 16 and will be held, as always, at Chicago’s McCormick Place. Three new areas – Applications Island, Materials Matter and the Industrial Printing Pavilion – will join nine returning show-floor attractions from last year. There’ll be many co-located events and over 70 seminars and educational opportunities.
One feature that’s always worth exploring is the show’s Must See’Em Awards. These technologies are considered game-changers as our industry moves forward. I don’t normally single out specific companies, but I’d like to congratulate this year’s only Canadian winner – Toronto’s Avanti Computer Systems. This leading provider of Print MIS solutions had its two newest Slingshot modules receive the prestigious award – its Grand Format Estimating and Automated Press Sheet Optimizer.
We’ll also be attending Graph Expo, so please stop by booth 4443, say hello, and subscribe to our free digital editions, free weekly e-newsletter and enter our free draw for a fabulous prize. Did you know that our website traffic has grown by 45% in only one year? Drop by our booth and discover how you can reach the commercial printing market across Canada more cost-efficiently. You’ll also learn about our second annual Print Community Conference and Tradeshow Nov. 19 and 20 in Vaughan, ON, that also includes our People First Awards Nov. 19. If you have any ideas regarding our event and what you’d like to see covered, or would like to nominate an individual in our industry for one of the awards, please call me at 1-877-513-3999. And watch for more information on our websites (www.graphicartsmag.com and www.printcommunity.com), in our weekly e-newsletters, and in our October and November printed issues.
We’re also planning to add an important panel discussion to our Print Community Conference and Tradeshow. Key industry players (such as Asia Pulp & Paper) will discuss the need for transparency in a printer’s sustainable supply chain. With increased demand for environmentally friendly printed products, there’s a greater need to fully understand strategy that can differentiate a printer from the competition. At press time, the details were being worked out.
Speaking of tradeshows, the Consac National Sign & Graphics Tradeshow will take place September 25 – 26 at the International Centre in Mississauga, ON. The Sign Association of Canada’s National Tradeshow attracts professionals from all over the world to see the latest the Canadian sign industry has to offer. I’ve been to this show before and it’s well worth your time.
As always, stay positive and stay focused.
