Trade printer invests millions of dollars in the latest signage technology and has established itself as a leader in signage and wide-format printing for print shops and print brokers.
In February, we explored SinaLite’s major expansion into label printing. However, another key, client-driven focus has been on digital signage and wide format. For example, SinaLite recently doubled its signage and banner production capacity with the installation of a new Jeti Titan HS flatbed UV-inkjet printer from Agfa Graphics Canada. “Our number one goal at Sina is simple: to provide our customers with the highest quality products at the lowest prices,” said President Mike Meshkati. “We also know how important turnaround time is. We can now offer a wide range of signage products to our clients with next-day delivery. This will be especially important as a provincial election looms, and we traditionally print a huge amount of yard signs during that period.” Agfa Graphics’ Jeti Titan HS prints up to 1,723 sq. ft. per hour. on a full range of media including coroplast, vinyl, canvas and foamboard. It was the ideal complement to SinaLite’s existing Jeti Titan UV HDC printer.
To expand further, Sina also added an Agfa Jeti Ceres, a wide-format, roll-to-roll printer for roll-media printing of all types. It features low ink consumption with fewer passes. Equipped with six UV LED-cured colours, plus white and primer as options, it provides exceptional image quality on a wide variety of flexible substrates for indoor and outdoor applications. These key investments were yet another example of SinaLite’s emphasis on production efficiency, ultra-fast turnarounds, and ultimately, improved satisfaction and client retention for its customer base of print brokers, commercial printers, sign shops, other types of printers – in fact, anyone who sells print!
In total, SinaLite’s high-capacity, large-format capabilities now allow its clients to deliver printed products to their customers much faster, and offer a greater variety of those products (yard signs, banners, pull-up banners, plastic, foam, etc.) so print shops can earn even more profits via higher broker markups, and increase overall customer satisfaction by offering consistent colour and quality to help them attract new and repeat business.
“As far as equipment, the bottom line is that each model has its own distinct advantages for our customers,” Meshkati added. “For example, the Ceres allows us to produce vinyl banners at rapid speeds and pass along the savings to our clients so that they can make more money via their own mark-ups. The Titan HS also gives us the speed to produce flat output at lower costs, so we can pass along those savings to our clients as well. Also, both devices significantly reduce turnaround times. This is extremely important, especially to our print-broker clients. Our customers may need to deliver products to their clients as soon as next day, and with our investments, we can help them do that. We also have the latest technology to ensure consistent and repeatable colour, while being more environmentally friendly. At the end of the day, these benefits are not just important to our clients, they’re important to our clients’ customers as well.”
SinaLite also doubled its finishing capacity by installing an Esko Kongsberg C cutting table to handle more difficult media and specialty folds. SinaLite was already operating a digital cutting table, but as orders continued to grow, it needed a second. “It was the amount of work. We knew we would continue to use our older machine, but wanted to at least double our capacity,” Meshkati said. “Using automated signage cutting machines is huge – because in addition to printing quickly, we can also cut signs faster to a finished size for small-run and long-run jobs. The full finishing solution was yet another step in our mission to stay ahead of the technology curve, to better serve our clients,” he added.
