INX introduces new Can Design Contest for designers and brand owners

The INX International Ink Company (Schaumburg, Illinois) has announced that entries are now being accepted for its inaugural Colored by INX Can Design Contest. A market leader in metal-decorating inks and colour management technologies, INX is making the contest available only to users of its INX 2-Piece Metal Color Catalogue and its corresponding digital colour library. The winner will be decided in April after voting is conducted via Facebook, said INX.

Renee Schouten.

“We wanted to create a special event and show our support for users of our INX Color Catalogue,” said Renee Schouten, Director of Marketing at INX. “We’re tremendously pleased to acknowledge that over 200 beverage brands, breweries, can makers, design agencies and other beverage marketers now rely on the only true colour standard in the metal-decorating industry. We intend to make the Can Design Contest an annual event to give brand owners and designers the opportunity to showcase their best designs.”

In addition to a more efficient design-to-market process (ranging from colour selection to getting more product on the shelf) there are significant cost-saving benefits, brand consistency, speed-to-market and colour accuracy considerations that INX Catalogue users find rewarding, said the company. The resource is also being updated this Spring, and will add more options to the 600-plus removable metal colour swatches that are currently available. Can design entries are being accepted until March 31, 2020, and entries must be for a commercially available product that was designed from January 1 to December 31, 2019. The contest is open only to individuals who used the INX Color Catalogue in the design of the can. The submitted design must also contain a minimum of two colours from the INX Color Perfection library. Only one entry is allowed per brand owner or designer.

A panel of INX judges will determine the five semi-finalists, and those designs will be made available on the INX Facebook page. Public voting will take place from April 6 to April 13, and the winner will be announced on April 14. The winner will receive an engraved trophy and other important recognitions.
