Ricoh USA has released its latest black-and-white multifunction printer (MFP), designed to help businesses enhance worker productivity with “fast print speeds, a more powerful processor and increased reliability.” Equipped with a 10.1-inch-wide Super VGA Smart Operation Panel, the Ricoh MP 402SPF helps users get information more easily, intelligently and reliably, said the OEM. The compact printer provides printing, colour scanning, copying and faxing for busy workgroups and offices. Its powerful Intel processor, standard 320GB hard disk drive, and 2GB of RAM, make it ideal for complex jobs and busy office environments. With print speeds of 42 pages per minute, advanced security and workflows, this MFP is aimed at doctors’ offices, insurance agencies and banks, among others.
Its Smart Operation Panel, a component of Ricoh’s Workstyle Innovation Technology, enables use of familiar gestures (such as swiping, pinching and flicking) to complete tasks – just as people do on their smartphones and tablets. It also offers one-click shortcuts for frequently-used applications, and pre-configured settings to help get jobs done faster. The Ricoh Smart Device Connector application initiates printing, scanning, copying and faxing to and from smart devices, without requiring a network connection – which further boosts productivity without compromising quality or security.
For busy users, the 402SPF enables processing and sharing of information quickly, scanning double-sided documents in one pass at up to 80 images per minute via its Single-Pass Document Feeder (SPDF), or via shortcuts such as ID Card Copy. Even stapled, legal-sized documents scan quickly and easily on the legal-size platen. The printer also streamlines IT requirements. IT can replace multiple devices with Ricoh MP 402SPF implementations. This streamlined approach enables IT departments to standardize and simplify support across a corporate network or enterprise.
In addition to the SPDF and Smart Operation Panel, the hard drive enables users to secure stored documents as well as leverage the security and cost savings of Locked Print, which helps prevent orphaned prints from sitting unsecured on the output tray. Ricoh added that, in fast-paced and highly regulated environments, these features help keep information safe while providing productivity gains. While a low-cost optional NFC card reader can further aid in printing security, the built-in hard drive also helps protect from outside threats, such as hackers.
“We talk a lot about how fast-paced today’s business world is, so it’s important to us to help our customers stay on top of their tasks,” said John Brophy, Vice President of Product Marketing for Ricoh USA. “A big part of that is making sure the information-sharing process is as streamlined and simple as possible. That’s why the Ricoh MP 402SPF has our powerful Smart Operation Panel – to help move our customers’ workflows into the next generation of office automation. From the interface to the hardware to the available apps, every aspect of this device was designed with efficiency and productivity in mind.”
