C.P. Bourg will unveil the first inline booklet making system available for HP Indigo digital presses for the first time ever at Print 13 Sunday. This industry-first production finishing solution was developed by C.P. Bourg in collaboration with HP to offer fully integrated digital finishing capabilities to users of HP Indigo 7000 Series Digital Presses. The booklet maker will be connected as a fully integrated system inline with an HP Indigo 7600 Digital Press producing documents that demand exceptional finishing quality – including a full-colour multipage photo book and a 401K Retirement Plan Application. The demonstrations will take place in the HP booth (#1241).
The new technology is aimed at the high-quality, full-colour booklet-making segment of the stitch-fold-trim finishing market in digital on-demand and web-to-print production environments. The robust inline booklet maker can operate 24/7 at the full-rated speed of the HP Indigo 7000 Series Digital Press to which it’s connected. It can produce even ultra-short-run jobs quickly and “with superb quality without operator intervention.”
“The new Bourg Booklet Maker ExPress reflects the full measure of C.P. Bourg’s experience as the pioneer and leader in digital inline finishing, as well as our dedication to providing print professionals with products of the highest quality, innovation and efficiency,” said Christian P. Bourg, President and Founder, C.P. Bourg Group. “We are pleased to collaborate with HP on this significant product development, and we plan to build upon our successful history with HP through our continued introduction of innovative solutions.”
“Our customers are constantly looking to expand their range of capabilities to remain competitive in the marketplace,” said Robert Raus, Americas Category Manager, HP SmartStream Workflow and Solution Partner Program. “Whether producing marketing materials on a wide range of substrates, short-run books, or promotional materials, the Bourg Booklet Maker ExPress provides HP Indigo 7000 Series Digital Press users with a level of finishing quality and productivity that is difficult to match.”
The new machine is based on the award-winning Bourg BM-e Booklet Maker and Bourg BCM-e Bleed Crease Module engineered to operate seamlessly with the right-to-left paper path and the duplex 2-up format of HP Indigo 7000 Series Digital Presses. The Bourg BM-e combines a variety of unique features and innovations to produce booklets, flyers, calendars and other finished products “with unparalleled quality while improving finishing speed, efficiency and flexibility.” These features include a clearly visible straight paper path, variable-pressure paper folding (to prevent marking, scuffing or scratching), precision face trimming to within 1/256th of an inch (0.999 mm), and mis-feed detection and job purge, to name a few.
The optional Bourg BCM-e can register and trim printed sheets top and bottom to produce full-bleed A4 and letter-size booklets. Cover sheets and content pages can be precision-creased at full production speed to produce quality finished documents with folds, trims and stitches that maximize the visual power and colour integrity of every press sheet. The booklet maker can transport and finish high-value end products finished on coated and uncoated stock from 80 gsm to 350 gsm without marking, scuffing or tracking – even when printed at ink densities up to 400% black.
