Avanti Slingshot receives prestigious JDF certification

avantijdf-inAvanti Computer Systems Limited, a leading Toronto-based provider of Print MIS solutions, has announced that its Avanti Slingshot MIS software has passed rigorous CIP4 certification testing and is now an official JDF-certified product.

The International Cooperation for the Integration of Processes in Prepress, Press, and Postpress Organization, or CIP4, is a not-for-profit standards association whose mission is to foster the adoption of process automation in the printing industry.

Printing Industries of America (PIA), on behalf of CIP4, tested Avanti Slingshot against the JDF Specification and awarded Avanti certification for both MIS to Prepress and Integrated Digital Printing.

Avanti Slingshot’s cloud-based Print MIS platform was launched at Print 13 and was the winner of numerous awards, including two of this year’s Graph Expo Must See’Ems. Avanti achieved its first JDF certification in 2008 for its Avanti Classic – Graphic Arts Management System.

“The guiding force behind the future direction of Avanti remains an unwavering commitment to provide the best possible service to our clients,” said Patrick Bolan, President and CEO, Avanti. “We’re driven by our desire to innovate for our customers, so that they can benefit from information in ways not even imagined.”

avantijdf3-inJDF bridges the communication gap between prepress software, press and production equipment, and a printer’s Management Information Systems (MIS), streamlining the overall production workflow. In short, it provides an environment where all the software and equipment in a print shop can “speak the same language.” Streamlined implementation of integrations between JDF-certified systems enables precise communication, thereby reducing multiple “touches” on print jobs and eliminating the possibility of human errors. As a certified Print MIS provider, Avanti Slingshot provides fully automated integration into the industry’s leading prepress and digital printing systems, thereby reducing overall integration costs and rapidly improving ROI.

“JDF Product Certification allows printers to integrate software and hardware seamlessly into their existing JDF-enabled workflow”, said Dr. Mark Bohan, Vice President of Technology and Research, Printing Industries of America (PIA). “Recognized for focusing on third-party integration and cloud technology, Avanti has completed many JDF projects, making them one of only a few leading companies in North America with real-world JDF experience.”
