CJ Graphics (Mississauga, Ontario), one of the most awarded commercial printers in North America, has expanded its in-house technology by installing a Fuji Inca Onset X1 wide-format UV flatbed inkjet printer as the latest addition to its Digital Large Format Division. The Onset is capable of producing quality prints at speeds in excess of 4,300 square feet per hour, which equates to over 80 5-foot by 10-foot beds per hour. Onset technology features a full bed print array and choice of finishes, from low-glare satin to high-impact gloss. The Onset’s 8-colour print configuration (CMYK-Light Cyan-Light Magenta-Orange+White) expands colour gamut by 30%. This colour configuration enables the matching of Pantone and corporate brand colours. It also provides much smoother colour transitions of light colours and skin tones. The opaque white also makes it possible to overprint or underprint with confidence in the finished product.

CJ Graphics has also added to its Finishing Department through Laminating Choice Canada by installing a new Kala Arkane D Hot & Cold Laminator and Kala Applikator Flat Bed Laminator & Mounting Table. With the option of top and bottom heated rollers, the Arkane is ideal for cold PSA laminate applications, and for media requiring heat during application. It’s also ideal for roll-to-roll applications up to 65 inches in width. The Kala Applikator Flat Bed Laminator & Mounting Table is a 67-inch-wide by 14.5-foot-long flat bed application system. Pressure on the roller of the Kala Applikator is provided by rapid-action electric motors located on both sides of the machine. There’s no need for compressed air. Three pressure-level settings guarantee precise media pressures across the entire table.
