Canadian packaging and folding carton specialist Ellis Paper Box added a new Koenig & Bauer (KBA) Duran Omega Allpro 90 Folder Gluer – the first in North America – to its 60,000-sq.-ft. Mississauga, Ontario facility earlier this year to better serve its international pharmaceutical clients. “We’ve developed a successful reputation as one of the most valued manufacturers in the industry because we understand and respect the demanding standards required by the pharmaceutical market,” said President Dave Ellis. “Our customers are continually challenging us with unique, value-added features. We listened carefully to understand what drives their businesses, and recognized that to be truly different from our competitors, we needed to provide all these services under our own roof. We had already developed a great relationship with KBA through our purchase of their Iberica brand of die cutters last year. So when KBA purchased Duran and its Omega products, it seemed to be an ideal situation for both parties. I believe KBA will continue to be a very important partner to the Ellis Group for many years.”

Omega Allpro Folder Gluers can handle a wide range of substrates, from carton board to corrugated, and can produce complex ranges of carton styles that reduce makeready times and boost productivity. They’re equipped with touchscreen control panels and modems for diagnostic purposes, and feature motorized and motorized-with-memory versions. “As we continue to grow our market share, we’ve added new businesses with new requirements,” Ellis pointed out. “Our new folder gluer can manufacture all styles of cartons – including straight line, auto-bottom, 4-corner and 6-corner – as well as some of our own uniquely-designed styles.”
