Tecnau, a multinational OEM specializing paper handling, monitoring, processing and finishing for the digital printing industry, has unveiled its Stack 1212 Cutting and Stacking System. Users can convert multi-up output from the emerging generation of B2+ colour digital presses, as well as sheetfed offset presses, into smaller stacked finished pages without guillotine cutting. The new system reduces manual print handling and consolidates labour-intensive finishing operations in a single-pass, automated process. Stack 1212 includes support for 1-up to 21-up impositions, handles papers from 70 – 350 gsm, with input up to 6,000 B2 sheets (up to 21” x 29.5”) per hour and output as small as 4” x 5” postcards (102 x 127 mm).
The space-efficient system has a footprint of about 100 square feet (30 square metres) and include a double-cut/gutter capability for bleed print, and a cutter/slitter cartridge-based approach for easy job changeovers in minutes. Stack 1212 also features efficient offline operation to handle output from multiple presses. A pallet feeder option can be included for easy integration into existing workflows. Output sheets are neatly stacked and delivered. Each job can be delivered to the conveyor one at a time, set within the stack, or delivered when the operator-programmed stack height is reached. “We believe it’s a cost-effective and space-efficient cutting and stacking solution for users of B2 colour digital presses looking to automate their finishing,” said Scott Peterson, Tecnau Product Marketing Manager.
